I was wasting time on Etsy today (oops…) and decided to check out some Kimonos! In all honesty I wanted to see if anyone had vintage Kimonos. I don’t think I could bring myself to buy one myself, but they are very beautiful to look at. I’m not a very delicate person, so I know I would ruin it. These are pieces of art in my eyes. These stunning Vintage Kimonos from PrettyLittleWorldVtg on Etsy are bound to intrigue you. Well let’s hop right in, I’m very VERY excited to show you what I found!
I couldn’t wait to show this antique kimono called Ancient Mythology! This is absolutely gorgeous, my photos don’t do it justice. Take a look at the actual posting because the detail is just amazing. I was left breathless. All of the elements of design on the kimono have strong cultural significance and symbolism. This item is from the 1800’s. I am so impressed that it is in such great condition.
Now if we travel further in time styles change. This 1920s Kimono Folies Bergere appears to be cut shorter. It’s a flapper robe! I am in love with the design and the bright colors of this robe. I’m wondering if the hummingbirds signify anything? When I think of kimonos this is the kind of style I think of.
This 1940’s Dutch Iris Vintage Kimono takes on a different look than the latter. The robe is longer again, but the design is more basic than it was in the past. I’m not seeing any symbolism either, but it’s still a very cute robe.
Wow! This is quite a colorful one! This 1940s Desert Palms Floral Kimono is definitely a showstopper. It looks like would be made out jean or a heavier material, but it is made out of crepe silk.
What a cool Vintage 1950s Silk Kimono. I love this peach-yellow silk with bright orange and green floral design. If I wasn’t so worried about destroying it, I would definitely buy this one! This is also supposed to be a wedding kimono. I know that traditionally you have to change into 3 different kinds of kimonos at your wedding! Can you imagine doing that?
This delicate Spring Dream Silk Kimono is another one of my favorites. I normally don’t like pink, but the way this is designed is really beautiful. The gorgeous purple and white flowers that flow on the bottom really pull this piece together.
Frankly, I wish I was a more careful person. I know I would ruin something as stunning as these vintage kimonos. Maybe you would be better off than me? Take a look at more of Vintage Kimonos from PrettyLittleWorldVtg on Etsy! Any thoughts? Comment down below!
